This unique clinic is specifically designed to address the frustrations riders have with understanding how to activate the correct muscles for a supple and active core and a more effective riding position.

Strength, suppleness, flexibility and a strong core create an optimim riding posture. It’s important each muscle is trained to act independently as well as a group of muscles synergistically.

Activate Your Core Clinic Includes

Morning Session:

  • posture assessments to pinpoint key areas in your own body you’d like to fix
  • discover your personal posture and how it affects your balance, confidence & relationship with your horse under saddle
  • learn how to activate your core in a fun, interactive session
  • practice using fit ball & band exercises to strengthen & improve your imbalances
  • improve your flexibility with yoga stretches designed for your personal posture
  • receive a take-home booklet of Strong Stable Seat exercises

Afternoon Session:

  • 45 min ridden lesson to practice using your core more effectively, as discovered in the morning session
  • learn about common rider postural errors, how they affect your horse & what to do to avoid them
  • practice exercises to improve your riding posture & help create a softer, more supple horse

Venue Fees

$230 riding, $150 non-riding.

Stable or day yard not included, please use the Stable/Yard Booking Form which comes with your follow-up email at time of clinic booking. $25/yard, $35/stable

Mel Macaulay has a unique ability to understand the challenges of personal postural issues & how they affect the horse/rider combination. With a background in sports performance, rehabilitation, weight loss & lifestyle coaching, Mel utilises a wholistic approach for a lasting outcome.

Mel is an Equestrian Biomechanics & Fitness Aust Level 3 Coach, EA Intro Coach and soon to complete a BSc Sport and Exercise Science.

Competing in the show ring has left her with a keen eye for detail & a desire to always fine tune & improve. Her rider specific exercises have assisted with her own postural imbalances which she shares with many via the Strong Stable Seat program. An experienced educator, Mel has taught, coached & assessed personal trainers.

She makes the mundane motivating & will provide you with easy to follow simple steps to guide you towards gaining a strong, stable seat.

Bronwyn Wood has been a devotee of the Strong Stable Seat program for nearly two years and is an inspiring example of its benefits. Bronwyn took up dressage as a mature rider and soon became aware of the shortcomings of a less youthful body.

With Strong Stable Seat she quickly experienced the changes it made to her health, rider fitness and ability to help her become a more balanced and effective rider – but declares she still has much to learn and achieve.

Bronwyn is an NCAS Level 1 Pony Club Instructor and Chief Instructor and an EA Intro Coach (studying Level 1).

She is an EA dressage competitor and had two daughters competitive at State level across various disciplines.

Bronwyn knows first-hand the challenges of learning a new sport as well as correcting ingrained bad habits. She loves helping riders achieve a better connection with their horses in fun and practical sessions.

Strong Stable Seat Clinics are brilliant at assessing every riders strength and flexibility, then tailoring exercises to address areas of weakness. Mel clearly explains the ‘why’ and ‘how’ muscles work when in motion on a horse. She also spends time with riders on their horse, making adjustments to stirrup length and seat, leg and upper body placement and the changes create amazing results. The clinic provides attendees with take home resources and literature to set up their own at home exercise program, both on and off the horse.
Highly recommend every equestrian attend one of Mel’s workshops at least once in their life, if not at least once a year.
